Our Story
The creator of MIHO LAPIN has practiced hand knitting since completing formal studies in 1991.
Over this long journey, she has developed distinctive methods for combining colors, yarns, and knit structures. Her work is guided by intuition, experience, and a deep understanding of materials rather than industrial patterns or standardized production methods.
Several garments have been worn continuously for over 27 years, demonstrating exceptional durability and timeless design. These pieces embody the belief that handmade craftsmanship can create objects that accompany people throughout their lives.
Miho Kito is a Japanese knit artisan with more than 35 years of experience in hand knitting.
Holding a knitting instructor qualification certified by the Japan Handicraft Instructor’s Association, she has dedicated her life to preserving and developing the art of hand knitting.
Every MIHO-LAPIN piece is individually handcrafted by Miho herself. Working stitch by stitch, she transforms yarn into one-of-a-kind wearable artworks that reflect time, patience, and craftsmanship.
Inspired by everyday life in Inuyama, Japan, her creations combine traditional hand-knitting techniques with a contemporary artistic perspective.
Each work carries a unique story, expressing warmth, memory, and human connection through color, texture, and form.
Product Development
Every MIHO LAPIN piece begins with material experimentation.
Different yarns, colors, textures, and stitch structures are carefully combined to create unexpected visual effects and unique textile surfaces. Many works pair Japanese yarns with European fibers, creating a cross-cultural dialogue through knitting.
